You will read about the early chapters of the community’s history, from its beginnings in both Portugal and England, through its 1733 founding in Savannah, and up to 1790 when George Washington was inaugurated. Supplemental materials include an annotated timeline that continues the story to present day Savannah. This book was written by Ann Woolner, a member of Congregation Mickve Israel with a distinguished career as a journalist and author.
